A new character for the Okunoshima Lighthouse has been born!

The “Akari no Moribito” (Guardians of the Light) project, which selects and anthropomorphizes 88 lighthouses from nearly 3,000 across Japan, has just unveiled a new character based on Takehara City’s Okunoshima Lighthouse!
Life-sized panels of the new character will be on display in the Takehara City Hall lobby for the time being, so please feel free to stop by.

The Marine Culture Creation Forum (Minato-ku, Tokyo), which promotes the “Sea and Lighthouse Project,” is working with the “Akari no Moribito Production Committee” (Minato-ku, Tokyo; Producer: Katsunori Namifusa) to promote initiatives that utilize local lighthouses as historical and cultural heritage sites through these anthropomorphized characters.
