A large Edo-higan cherry tree in the Onashi district of Takehara City, standing approximately 20 m tall, 15 m wide, with a trunk circumference of 3.07 m.
It was named the “Meoto (Married Couple) Sakura” because the trunk splits into two trees near the base.
Legend has it that couples who come to admire the cherry blossoms in early April, when they are at their peak, will enjoy a harmonious marriage… ♡
