The shop offers heartfelt signature sweets including “Shokutan,” a black castella made with Takehara’s specialty bamboo charcoal; “Kyutaro Manju,” named after the childhood name of Master Rai Sanyo; and “Kaguya-hime no Yomeiri Gashi,” featuring six different flavors.
The most popular item is “Hakoniwa Monaka,” which represents the Setouchi landscape as a miniature garden.
This satisfying delicacy features fragrant wafers made from domestic glutinous rice filled generously with premium tsubuan (chunky sweet red bean paste).
