Highlights & What to Do

In Takehara, which prospered thanks to salt fields developed in the early Edo period, the streets and houses of that time have been carefully preserved as the “Takehara City Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings.”
Here, you can watch videos explaining the streetscape and its history, and also learn about the interior structure of old houses that can only be viewed from the outside.
