Highlights & What to Do

One of the most iconic examples of merchant architecture in the Takehara Historic District.
The impressive exterior features a karahafu gabled roof, eaves, and continuous latticed windows, while the interior maintains an elegant and refined atmosphere.
Built during the Bunsei era at the end of the Edo period and renovated in 1879.
The family once operated extensive salt production and brewing businesses, and the building still reflects the history of Takehara’s prosperity throughout its structure.
