“Enjoy bamboo, enjoy Takehara”
Takehara flourished during the Edo period through salt making.
It’s said that as far away as the Hokuriku region, people even used the phrase “buy Takehara” to mean buying salt.
Bamboo—said to be the origin of the place name—”Takehara Salt,” which recreates traditional salt making, and “Japanese culture” and “sake” that grew out of the development of salt making.
We sell carefully selected souvenirs that let you enjoy Takehara’s history and culture, including bamboo products, sake, and handmade items.
We also accept reservations for activities such as salt-making experiences. Please enjoy it together with a stroll through the historic streets.
