This historic building, the first to serve as a post office in Takehara, was built in 1871 and began operating as a postal station in 1874.
For about 60 years until it moved to the banks of the Honkawa River in 1934, this site was a familiar landmark for local residents as the heart of Takehara’s postal services.
The Yoshii Residence, the main family estate, still stands nearby; together, they remain as precious architectural landmarks quietly telling the story of the town’s modern history.
