Takehara City was additionally certified in May 2019 as one of the municipalities that make up the Japan Heritage site already recognized by the Agency for Cultural Affairs: “A Different World Woven by the Dreams of Men Who Crossed Rough Seas
—Kitamaebune Port-of-Call Sites and Shipowner Settlements—.”
One of the five component cultural properties related to the Kitamaebune is the “group of night lights,” which served as landmarks for ships entering port.
The “Tadanoumi Port Night Light,” a Kitamaebune port of call, is also one of the component cultural properties.
The night light is engraved with the following inscriptions: east face, “天地海童一切諸神”; north face, “(上部)文化十三年/丙子九月吉日(中間)當町(下部)綿屋清兵衛門/胡屋茂兵衛”; west face, “諸天諸菩薩”; south face, “金毘羅大權現”.
