Stroll around the town at the gateway to Rabbit Island♪

Tadanoumi is the gateway to Rabbit Island—a town where the sea and people live side by side. With stunning Seto Inland Sea views, the Kaguya-hime Museum, jam-making experiences, and more… it’s actually really fascinating!

Day 1

1.

Mt. Kurotaki

Elevation: 266 m. With a Kannon Hall and 33 stone Buddhas, it boasts a wonderful view overlooking the Geiyo Islands and the Tatara Bridge, with the Shikoku mountain range in the distance. Along the Kurotakiyama hiking trail, you’ll find the “Happiness Torii,” said to bring good fortune if you pass through it. It’s a very small torii, but even men can make it through if they try!
6 min on foot
2.

Kaguya-hime Museum

The Kaguya-hime Museum has a dreamy atmosphere, featuring works inspired by The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter. The exhibition room, renovated from a traditional storehouse, houses Kaguya-hime kimekomi dolls and books related to Kaguya-hime. The second floor is a slightly active museum, with a route you can only pass through if you crouch down. From the main hall’s attic to the bamboo grove, you can see fairy-tale panel paintings and good-luck art throughout.

Megumi Bread Workshop RyuRyu

Opened in 2016! The white-themed interior reflects the female owner’s attention to detail. They offer bread made with additive-free dough, using Japanese wheat and natural yeast or fresh yeast. Gentle on the body and soft and fluffy, it’s a big hit—safe and enjoyable for everyone from kids to seniors! Their homemade custard cream bread with its moist texture is especially popular.

Proud of their soft, fluffy dough. It’s near Tadanoumi Port, so feel free to stop by while you’re waiting for the ferry.
