Highlights & What to Do

A few artisans are always on hand making bamboo crafts such as baskets and ornaments. In addition to tours, there are product displays and sales.
If you’d like, you can join a “bamboo craft experience,” where you can make bamboo items such as baskets or bamboo dragonflies with careful guidance from an artisan.
Outside the building, there is a landscaped plaza with bamboo and bamboo grass plantings.
This plaza features bamboo varieties and Kenninji-style fences that evoke the origins of Takehara’s name. At the back stands Kōsaikyo, the study of Meiji-era scholar Nakamura Sanri, and the area includes benches as a rest space.
